Nationwide Classic Car Scam EXPOSED: Man Arrested! (2026)

A nationwide classic car scam has been exposed, leading to the arrest of a Victorian man. The alleged fraudster, aged 56, is accused of creating fake documents and advertising vintage Holden Monaros, Toranas, and other collectible vehicles on Gumtree. This scheme, which began in 2019 and continued into 2020, has affected over 40 people across Australia, with at least four victims in South Australia this year. The man was arrested in Victoria on January 29 and charged with multiple fraud offences. He is currently in custody and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on February 10. Police are urging anyone who believes they may have been scammed to come forward and report the incident.
