Garmin Unveils the quatix 8 Pro Nautical Smartwatch Featuring inReach Connectivity
Imagine being out on the water, far from shore, and still being able to stay connected. Garmin has made this a reality with the introduction of the quatix® 8 Pro, a cutting-edge nautical smartwatch specifically designed to keep boaters and anglers linked even when cellular networks are out of reach. This impressive device boasts built-in inReach satellite and cellular technology, allowing users to send text messages, make voice calls, share their location, and activate SOS alerts independently of their smartphones.
Crafted for those who spend their lives on the water, the quatix 8 Pro showcases a robust 47mm case housing a stunning 1.4-inch AMOLED display, complemented by a durable titanium bezel and a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. Garmin claims that this smartwatch can last up to 15 days in smartwatch mode, making it an essential companion for extended outings on the water and beyond.
"Whether you're fishing, working out, wakesurfing, or lifting weights, the quatix 8 Pro ensures that mariners stay connected throughout their day—even in situations where bringing a smartphone is impractical or impossible," said Susan Lyman, Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing at Garmin. "With satellite and LTE connectivity right on your wrist, sailors can feel secure knowing they can maintain contact or seek assistance if needed."
Stay Connected, Even Offshore
Thanks to its integrated inReach technology (a subscription is necessary), the quatix 8 Pro empowers anglers to send messages, check in with their locations, and receive weather updates via satellite—up to an impressive 50 miles offshore. Additionally, the cellular connectivity feature facilitates voice calling, voice messaging, and LiveTrack location sharing. In critical situations, users can instantly trigger an SOS alert that connects them to the 24/7 Garmin Response coordination center, ensuring they can get help when it matters most.
Enhanced Boat Mode for Seamless Functionality
One of the standout improvements in this smartwatch is the enhanced boat mode, which automatically highlights marine-specific applications while you’re on the water. This feature brings vital boat functions, such as autopilot control and trolling motor data, to the forefront of the watch face. Once you return to dry land, the watch seamlessly transitions back to everyday apps and functionalities.
Packed with Marine and Lifestyle Features
The quatix 8 Pro is meticulously designed to integrate smoothly with Garmin marine electronics, offering capabilities like chartplotter voice commands (Bluetooth required), remote control of onboard entertainment and lighting systems, and operation of Force trolling motors, among other features. When off the water, it provides continuous health and wellness tracking, navigation tools, Garmin Pay, and support for over 100 different activities, including popular sports like wakesurfing and water skiing.
Mark your calendars! The Garmin quatix 8 Pro will be available starting January 16, 2026, with a suggested retail price of $1,299.99. For more details, check out garmin.com.
